According to the notification issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal has been made the new Law Minister of the country. Mr. Meghwal has taken charge of the post of Law Minister on Thursday. The country's new law minister Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal was born on 7 December 1954 in a simple Dalit family in Kismidesar village of Bikaner district, Rajasthan. Mr. Meghwal's father was a weaver by profession and his entire family was engaged in weaving. Mr. Meghwal has done his post graduation and L.L.B from Shree Dungar College, Bikaner. After completing his college studies, Mr. Meghwal tried for a government job. Mr. Meghwal got his first government job in the Indian Post and Telegraph Department where he was appointed as a telephone operator. Mr. Meghwal was busy preparing for competitive exams while working as a telephone operator. His hard work paid off and he passed the Rajasthan State Administrative Service exam. Later he was appointed as an officer of the State Administrative Service. After being promoted from the State Administrative Service, he was also appointed as an officer of the Indian Administrative Service. As an Indian Administrative Service officer, he served as the District Magistrate of Churu district in Rajasthan. While working as an administrative officer, he exposed the alleged land scam in Bikaner by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra. After which Mr. Meghwal came under target of the ruling Congress party. He became a national figure after he exposed Robert Vadra's alleged land scam. In 2009, the Bharatiya Janata Party offered Mr. Meghwal to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bikaner. Taking voluntary retirement from administrative service, he contested the Lok Sabha elections on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket and was victorious. He became a member of the Lok Sabha for the first time in 2009.In 2014 and 2019 also, he contested from Bikaner on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket and won both the elections and became a member of the Lok Sabha. He is a member of the Lok Sabha for the third time. Since the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in 2014, he has been a minister in several ministries. Presently he was the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and has been made the Law Minister. Shri Meghwal is known for his simple and austere life as a minister he owns a government car but prefers to travel to the ministry by bicycle. He rarely uses the official car. Apart from this, Mr. Meghwal is also known for his Rajasthani costumes.He is always seen in public in Rajasthani attire.
