Changes in the country's demographic profile will threaten the existence of the Constitution-- Justice G.R. Swaminathan (Madras High Court)

Justice GR Swaminathan, Judge, Madras High Court, while addressing a private function, said that the existence of the Indian Constitution depends on the demographic profile of the country.If there is a change in this, then the existence of the constitution will be in danger.                                                  Justice Swaminathan said that the constitution written by Dr B.R. Ambedkar is supreme for all the citizens of the country and I take pride in it. We all should stay within the ambit of constitutional morality and not go beyond it.                                                                                                          Commenting on the demography of the country in the context of the existence of the Constitution, he said that his view may seem controversial to some but he is not worried about it.Because in one of the cases, he has mentioned these things while giving the decision.                                    .  .                                                      He said that the Constitution is supreme for all, if the basic structure of the Constitution is to be kept the same as it was at the time of its framing, then the demographic profile that existed in the country at the time of its framing that demographic profile should not change.If the demographic profile remains unchanged then only the constitution will remain If the demographic profile changes then the constitution will cease to exist.                                                    Apart from this, he said that the constitution will exist only as long as the Indian public continues to follow Indian religion, tradition and culture.He further said that as long as the people are under Indian religion, tradition and culture, the Constitution will continue to exist.                                         He refused to speak more on this issue saying that he is a judge so he should not speak more hope you understand my point properly.                                                    Referring to the Tamil sant
